The capacity-building work of the Oregon Arts Commission is designed to help arts organizations become stronger, more effective, and more nimble as they move into the future. In addition to awarding grants, the Arts Commission has developed a range of other services to help build the capacity of Oregon arts groups.
For the last several years, the Commission’s Capacity Building work has included a Leadership Exchange for 80 arts organization board and staff leaders in four regions of the state, personalized coaching for an invited group of arts organizations, and Capacity Grants for arts groups striving to improve their organizational capacity. An annual Arts Summit provides an opportunity for community-building and shared learning for over 500 nation-wide participants, and has become one of the largest gatherings of arts and creative professionals and advocates in the Northwest.
The Oregon Arts Summit has become known as the place where individuals and teams of staff and board come together for provocative learning exchanges that spark new insights and connections to their work.
